Project Maitree is a women-led initiative that addresses two critical issues: lack of income opportunities and limited access to menstrual hygiene. The project empowers women from low-income communities by training them to produce high-quality, reusable sanitary napkin kits.

The process begins with skill development—women receive hands-on training in stitching, packaging, and quality control. Once trained, they begin production either individually or in small groups, using materials sourced ethically and sustainably. The finished kits are then distributed within their communities and in nearby underserved areas, ensuring that girls and women have access to safe and eco-friendly menstrual hygiene solutions.

In this way, Project Maitree creates a circular impact—improving women’s income while also addressing menstrual health and dignity. The women not only earn a stable income but also become agents of change in their communities by breaking taboos around menstruation and promoting health awareness.
